Alphabets made of String Beans, Cucumbers, and Yellow Cauliflower – Food Font at the RIPE! festival

This past weekend, Food Font was at the RIPE! Fest at the Cleveland Botanical Garden in Cleveland, OH.  In the sun, rain, and hail – people stopped by to make letters out of local produce.  On Saturday, two alphabets were made; one out of cucumbers and one out of broccoli and cauliflower.  The cauliflower that we used is yellow and is called “cheesy broccoli” – but no cheese is involved.  On Sunday, it was string beans all the way; a uppercase and lowercase alphabet was made out of yellow and green string beans.  Some of the alphabets we made used the Spanish alphabet checklist – so we made some letters with accents also – so the alphabet can be used for English or Spanish

The vegetables were from Schwartz Fruit and Vegetable Farm which is located in  Chesterland, OH.  Thanks again to Edible Cleveland for helping with the event and sharing a table with us!

The pictures from the event are posted on the Food Font Flickr site., and also can be viewed in the slideshows below.
