Skopje Park Fun was a CEC ArtsLink Project done with the support of press to exit project space.
The City Park in Skopje, the Republic of Macedonia is within walking distance from the city’s center. In the park there is a variety paths, the Vardar river, and small artificial lakes. Skopje Park Fun aims to activate the park during the “off season,” and frame the actions in the park in a new way.
Artists Kristen Baumlier, Hristina Ivanoska, and Nathaniel Parsons built and prepared a series of site-specific actions/performances which involve interaction and the theme of navigation. The works premiered as a special event in the Skopje City park on Saturday December 9th in the Republic of Macedonia and was documented on the project website.
Take a ride.
Soup for all.
Play with others.
The project included:
A series of floating stones, placed in the lake of the park. A new view is made.
An interactive ride made from a recycled boat on wheels.
Within our ride, will be a special camera that takes a souvenir “ride photo,” a camera setup that will produce a series of pictures that viewers can later download from the web of their ride experience.
SOUP FOR ALL
A soup inspired by Macedonian and American folklore. Audience members will bring one ingredient – a vegetable – to help create a hot soup that will be available during the project performance date.
A map to highlight new views in the park, and a guide to the sites of the project. This is also a souvenir for visitors and audiences in both Macedonia and in the U.S.
A meeting point for play within the park. New chess pieces are made for the large outside chess board within the park.
